OUC (EIRP)
Energy is a vital resource, which is why OUC is taking an integrated planning approach to producing, storing, and saving energy.
Balancing the Future
To serve customers better and continue providing an essential resource, OUC is updating an Electric Integrated Resource Plan (EIRP). This is a long-term energy plan that serves as a roadmap for how OUC will generate and deliver electricity that meets customers’ current and future energy needs.
Reliability
An electric system’s ability to effectively produce and deliver the energy required by customers with minimal interruptions and consistent quality while maintaining compliance.
Affordability
An electric system’s ability to produce and deliver energy at an affordable cost with minimal price fluctuations.
Sustainability
An electric system’s ability to produce energy in a way that proactively reduces pollution and impacts on the surrounding ecosystem.
Resiliency
An electric system’s ability to adapt to uncontrollable events, such as severe weather (hurricanes, major storms) while maintaining physical and cyber grid security and quickly restore services following an interruption.
Our Mission
To provide exceptional value to our customers and community through the delivery of sustainable and reliable services and solutions.
The Road Ahead
From identifying current and future system needs, to understanding how population growth may impact the services we provide, preparing our energy system for the future will take long-term planning. Here is how we intend to accomplish the goals and objectives of this vital initiative.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
The plan studies different types of energy resources—such as solar, natural gas, energy storage, wind, and nuclear—and tests how well each mix can support a reliable, resilient, cost-efficient and sustainable future.
Community engagement means OUC is inviting customers, organizations, and residents to learn about the planning effort and share what matters most to them—such as reliability, cost, sustainability, and resilience—so those values help shape the long‑term plan.
It outlines options for reducing carbon emissions, increasing clean energy, and balancing environmental responsibility with reliability and affordability.
Public input helps OUC understand community priorities and concerns. That feedback is reviewed alongside technical analysis to guide decisions about future energy resources and strategies.
OUC regularly updates its plan to prepare for future energy needs, changes in technology, extreme weather, and long‑term goals.
The CWG was selected using these guiding principles:
- Representation across sectors and priorities.
- Breadth of local and regional insights.
- Diversity of technical and community perspectives.
- Balance across geography and customer types.
